Folder Metadata?

I'm a digital media design specialist, and right now, my entire file structure is filled to the brim with subfolders. Is there a way to add custom tags and information to folders as well as files? Mac OS X Mavericks recently introduced this functionality and so far it's been an utter godsend, but I've always been a Windows diehard and would love the same functionality on my Win system.

Edit: Derp. I'm an idiot and completely missed the other thread. ;_;

Easily done. For everybody else, the 'other thread' is here: File folders. I'll add your vote.

I went into the other thread, and I couldn't quite grasp how to add tags to folders based on what it said in there. By the sound of it, it wasn't possible to edit directly anyways. =/

I look forward to a potential Folder Meta. I'll happily donate for a product like that once it becomes available. =)

Your software is really very useful for us. Thanks for your work. And I think tag for folder will be an enhance to this software. I am not familiar with ntfs ads. But I know that we can add ads stream to any folder or files in command line like:
echo tag1 > tagtestfolder:Comment
and you can see the Comment info like:
more < tagtestfolder:Comment
Now I use total commander with a ntfs plugin NTFS_diz. Maybe the idea of this plugin can help you to enhance this nice software.

Thank you whhfly2003, that is very useful. I hadn't realised that alternate streams would work with folders on NTFS in the same way that they do with files. Of course, that opens up the possibility of storing arbitrary metadata on folders. Way better than desktop.ini!

Now I need to try and figure out the most natural way possible of making that metadata readable and editable in Explorer.

Thanks again
